So we didn’t journal this vacation like Africa but we managed to write down enough to remember this amazing trip…
We arrived in Paris on a very rainy morning (and what turned out to be a very rainy week). Our first stop was The Cathedral Notre Dame. We waited in line for Notre Dame for a few hours before we realized that we were in line to walk to the top not inside (whoops). We weren’t too upset though because we got an amazing 360 degree view of PARIS and in the haze we could see our first peek at the Eiffel Tower..AHHHHH…
Our next move was to pick up a bottle of Champagne and flag down a taxi to do a floodlight tour of the “City of Lights”…WOW!!!
We got to the Eiffel Towe in just enough time to see this…
And came back again every night that we were in Paris.
The next day was Our 1 Year Anniversary. We started at the very romantic Monmarte neighborhood! We probably walked around for 4 hours! We walked around the Basilica Sacre Coeur, couneless art shops, Boulevard De Clichy, Moulin Rouge, and the breathtaking Monmarte Cemetary.
Our 1st anniversary dinner was at WOS Bar. This Green Bay Packers bar in the city of Paris was just awesome! The Packers killed the Redskins and we met some amazing Packers fans from all over the world. They dont serve food in this standing room only bar, so for dinner I had to walk next door to grab us burgers and fries. We drank German Beer, in anticipation for Oktoberfest, and champagne, as we do on the 15th of every month. The owner of WOS even took a picture with Bret because he thought he looked like Brett Favre. The owner also gave me a Cheesehead to wear. When the bar closed, we signed the Packers fan guest book and grabbed some drunk street crepes for the ride home! Best. Anniversary. Ever.
Late to bed late to rise! Today we headed out later than planned (damn German beer) to the Champs Elysees for shopping, champagne and the Arc de Triomphe…
Afterwards we went to the Love Locks Bridge….
Good thing about all the rain? Double rainbw over The Seine…
Sobering tour of Normandie…
Tuileries Garden (ametuer photo shoot) and a little light reading and wine before conquering The Lourve…
Versaille…The best part was being treated to a romantic row boat ride around the property by Bret.
My mom told me thet when my Grandpa and Grandma Clancy finally made it to the top of the Eiffel Tower, Grandpa said to Grandma “Annie, the Clancys are at the top of the Eiffel Tower!” in total disbelief. When I asked my Grandma about this she said that it was really amazing for them-people who had to work multiple jobs to send their kids to catholic school, save every penny and not be able to do things for them while raising their kids, to be able to be in Paris, on the top of the Eiffel Tower. So as soon as we made it to the top I yelled out “Bret, The Geldermans are at the top of the Eiffel Tower!” It was very special!
